Ronald Leon Rose, age 74, of Savannah passed away on June 16, 2025. He was doing what he loved in his final moments. Ronald (Ron), was born on March 9, 1951 in Prince Frederick, MD, the son of the late Elvin L. Rose, Sr. and Helen Laurene Baldwin Rose. Ron spent many years in Essex County, VA. a native of Tappahannock, He was a graduate of Tappahannock High School and continued his formal education at Virginia Tech.
Ron followed in his father’s footsteps by working in and around rivers. He was a partner of Alpha Construction with his brother, Bob Rose, since 1987. They specialized in bridges, historical canal repairs and infrastructures involving water. Ron was known for his hard work, expertise and integrity. He will be loved forever and remembered as one of the most kind, generous and selfless fathers, sibling, spouse and friend. He loved spending time with family and friends and always knew how to make people laugh and feel welcomed with his open arms. He was generous, loyal and a truly fun individual. Random acts kindness to others were among Ron’s favorite actions. He was a most caring human.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Jackie Ellers. He is survived by his beloved wife, Delores Bowman Cooper Rose, his children, David Rose (Kristin), Frances H. Rose, Lt. Dustin L. Rose, Wayne A Van Voorhis (Laurie), Julianne Van Voorhis, Victoria Van Voorhis, Frank A Van Voorhis; grandchildren, Abi Rose Cline (Ryan), Emma Rose; siblings Diane Rose, Elvin L. (Larry) Rose (Jennie), Robert A. (Bob) Rose (Sharlene), Elsie Shank (Lyall) and Elizabeth (Liz) Moore.
A Memorial service will be held at Compassion Christian Church, East Campus, at 9150 Old Montgomery Rd. in Savannah, GA, on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The Nature Conservancy at https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/ or a charity of your choice.
