Ronald "Ron" Warrum, 83, of New Harmony, IN passed away July 28, 2025. He was born December 23, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Paul E. and Margaret (Taylor) Warrum.
Ron graduated from Greenfield High School in 1959, Wabash College in 1963 and Indiana School of Law in 1966. He moved to Evansville in 1966 and was the Assistant City Attorney from 1966 to 1971 and the Evansville Vanderburgh Levy Authority District Attorney from 1966 to 1975.
He actively practiced law in this region for fifty-seven years. He was a devoted practitioner. It was commonly said that he was one of the only lawyers who operated with original thought. This led to taking and trying some difficult cases. Ron, and later in life Ron and Jake tried some of the biggest civil cases in Evansville. Ron liked being in his office, helping clients, and the comradery of our local bar associations. He operated under the theory that grace is given, but respect is earned.
Ron was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, NRA, American Trap Shooters Association, Boonville Gun Club, Evansville Gun Club, and the Mt. Vernon Gun Club. In the spring Ron was in the woods hunting morels. Come September, he was in the dove field. October – December, he was in a deer stand (it was questionable if he would be awake, asleep, or just resting his eyes).
He is survived by his partner, Jo Dawne Tomlinson; his son, Jake Warrum (Tessa); and two grandchildren, Chelsea and Tyson, and Jo Anna Huff (Nathan).
Ron has requested that there not be a service or a funeral. On more than one occasion he stated, "If you want to show respect or honor me, save the time and take a family member hunting or fishing. Don't tell old stories, go make new ones!"
Memorial contributions may be made to Posey County Ducks Unlimited, 65 Parkridge Drive, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 or to the American Diabetes Association.
