Mr. Roosevelt "Rock" Butts Jr.

Roosevelt "Rock" Butts Jr. was born October 26, 1940, to the union of Roosevelt Butts Sr. and Ruth Butts in Kansas City, Missouri.
Roosevelt accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church. He received his formal education at Wendall Phillips Elementary, Lincoln Junior High School and Lincoln High School. Definitely known for his athleticism, Roosevelt received recognition and honors from the Negro League Baseball Museum for his participation as a catcher in his younger years. He was also a member of the Jive Turkey Bowlers, winning multiple trophies and awards. Let's not leave out his for firing up his grill in the backyard for the whole neighborhood to smell.
After graduation Rock went to work for Manor Bakery, following DST, State of Missouri, and Grandview High School where he retired from them all. In 1963, he met the love of his life and lifelong companion, Eddie Mae. They were married January 4, 1969. Eddie Mae lovingly referred to him as Junie. Together they raised their three children, Rebecca; Roosevelt Jermaine; and Michael.
Roosevelt departed this life on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt; and Ruth; his siblings, Clarence (Slug); Clarice; Jay Harvey; and Terry.
Leaving to cherish his memory, his wife, EddieMae; daughter, Rebecca Butts (Bryan Ray); sons, Roosevelt Jermaine Butts "Jamie" (L. Golden Butts); Michael Johnson; grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Erron Butts; JeBria Byrd; Jermaine Butts; Erron Butts Jr.; Tylan Strong; DiCarlo Jackson; and DiLayah Jackson; siblings, Roy; James; Brenda; Linda; and Theresia Jean; a host of nephews; nieces; cousins; other relatives; and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO 64130. Private Disposition.
