Joan Marie Price Wilson, the youngest of seven siblings, was born March 8th, 1935, in Bunston, Missouri, to Wesley and Frances Price.
In 1956, Joan graduated from Lincoln High School as a spirited class member, armed with ambition and a contagious sense of humor, her education continued at KC Metropolitan Junior College. Where shortly after, a remarkable love story unfolded. In 1958, she married George Wilson, a union that became the cornerstone of their lives.
Joan accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. A. B. Simons at Morning Star Baptist Church. She was active in some of the church programs and taught Sunday school. Eventually, she discovered her cherished church home at Community Christian Church in Kansas City. There, her nurturing spirit thrived as she volunteered for the church's "newsies," newsletter group and annual Jazz Carol Fest.
Joan cultivated a loving household with George, and they were blessed with two wonderful sons, Anthony and Arthur. Joan embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom, immersing herself in her family. Joan later became a proud grandmother of two beautiful girls (Taylor and Taryn), then eventually a proud great grandmother to her adored Mikey and Reina. As the family grew her heart grew even bigger, crafting unforgettable memories with a heart full of devotion. Joan cherished every moment with her family, drawing them close with her famous heart-warming smile, infinite support, and wise guidance. She also had a special relationship with Veronica, Anthony's long-term partner, who became like a daughter to her. Beyond her family, Joan was a devoted friend and confidante whose gift of love and kindness remains unshakable. She especially treasured her lifelong friendship with Dorthy. Her light extended to her circle of nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will miss her cheerfulness and unforgettable sense of humor. Whether engrossed in her favorite soap operas, "One Life to Live" and "General Hospital," or basking in the laughter shared with others, Joan's zest for life was undeniably infectious.
Joan leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her sons: Anthony and Arthur, her granddaughters: Taylor and Taryn, her great-grandchildren: Mikey and Reina and a host of nieces and nephews. Her husband: George, her parents: Frances and Wesley, along with her siblings: Virginia, Bobby, Billy, Paul, Jackie and Donald, preceding her, now reunite in peace. The Wilson family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses, and medical staff who helped care for Joan, and express their sincerest appreciation to Brenda, who assisted Joan to her appointments, providing unwavering support.
