Rosa Maria Acevedo-Cabral, 84, of Laguna Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Universal City, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
Rosa was born on September 15, 1941, in Laguna Grande, Zacatecas, to Cesaria Guzman and Juan Cabral. The eldest of 13 children, Rosa helped raise her siblings from a young age, embodying the strength and care that would define her life.
At the age of 15, she married Jose Acevedo Barrios on January 3, 1956. Together, they shared 69 devoted years of marriage and raised seven children. In 1974, Rosa and Jose moved their family to Los Angeles, California, where she dedicated herself fully to caring for her home and family.
Rosa was a talented homemaker and a woman of many skills. She loved crocheting and created beautiful, handmade tablecloths, bed quilts, curtains, and scarves. Her green thumb was evident in her flourishing garden, where she grew everything from flowers, vegetables and herbs to peach and pomegranate trees. Rosa was also an exceptional cook, and her family will forever miss her homemade tamales.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Jose Acevedo Barrios; her siblings Anita Cabral, Maria Magdalena, Irma Cabral, Jose Manuel Cabral, Fernando Cabral, Olga Lidia Cabral, and Jorge Cabral; and her children Silvia Gonzalez-Acevedo, Juan Jose Acevedo, Javier Acevedo, Rosa Valdespino-Acevedo, and Angelica Lechuga-Acevedo. Rosa also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cesaria Guzman and Juan Cabral; her children, Humberto Acevedo and Rodolfo Acevedo; and her siblings Arturo Cabral, Margarita Cabral, Maria del Refugio, Juan Antonio Cabral, and Salomon Cabral.
Rosa will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on through her loved ones.
