Rosa Mae (Beachy) Yoder

August 7, 1936 – January 17, 2026

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M., and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Pleasant View Church. Funeral services and burial will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Pleasant View Church, Arcola, IL. The Edwards Funeral home is assisting with arrangements.

Rosa was born in Arthur, IL on August 7, 1936, to Noah and Lucinda (Bontrager) Beachy. From her earliest years, Rosa carried a steady, gracious spirit that remained with her throughout her life.

She grew up alongside siblings who were an important part of her life—her brother, Freeman Beachy, married to Bertha, and her sister, Mary Miller, married to Lester, all of Arthur, Illinois.

On October 23, 1958, Rosa married Mel Yoder. In the 61 years they had together, they built a life rooted in God, family, and community. Rosa expressed her love most often through her hands. She was very talented and loved gardening, sewing, and creating quilts. These were not merely hobbies to her, they were expressions of who she was.

Rosa had a lifelong love of learning which was evident in many areas of her life, including her dedication to God’s Word and attending church both in person and remotely when her health hindered her. Her curiosity never faded, and she continued to learn and grow, even well into her 80s. Teaching others came naturally to her, willing to share what she knew, gently and without pretense, making others feel capable and welcome. Her presence was calm and steady. People felt at ease in her company, simply by being with her.

Rosa was the mother of six children: Wesley Yoder (Wilma); Mary Beth Hostetler (Rick), all of Arthur, IL; Bill Yoder (Ruth) of Sarasota, FL; Phil Yoder (Sheryl) of Harrison, AR; Cindy Kauffman (Phil) of Bee Branch, AR; and Gloria Guadron (Moises) of Valparaiso, IN.

She is survived by 20 grandchildren: Tamara Yoder, Trenton Yoder, Tanner Yoder, Tiffany Hartzler, Tanya Weaver, Hannah Chupp, Andrew Yoder, Matthew Yoder, Elizabeth Yoder, Darius Yoder, Lance Yoder, Carmen Hochstetler, Vincent Yoder, Abby Yoder, Natalia Schubkegel, Andre Guadron, Ravi Guadron, Qianna Guadron, Aliya Guadron, and Xander Guadron; as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

Surrounded by her family, Rosa passed away peacefully at the Haven of Care on January 17, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the age of 89.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mel, her parents, her sister Nettie Beachy and a great-grandson Malachi Schubkegel.

Her life was lived by moments - woven together through love, learning, and a heart always open to others. Her legacy now lives on in her family, in the things she made, and in the many lives she quietly touched.
