Rosalie Lashbrook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dunnichay Funeral Home - Elwood on May 28, 2025.
Join us as we celebrate the life of Rosalie Lashbrook, who was born on April 28, 1951, in Elwood, Indiana and passed away on May 25, 2025, in Carmel, Indiana. A resilient pillar of strength and faith, Rosalie's 74-year journey on earth was one of purpose and inspiration. She was a 1970 graduate of the Indiana School for the Blind, and her determination to live a fulfilling life despite her circumstances was a testament to her indomitable spirit. Rosalie's love for life could be seen in her passion for reading the Bible in braille, writing letters to family and friends on her typewriter, and her delight in keeping up with everyone on Facebook. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was talking on the phone with family and friends, having company over, or going on walks with her special niece Laura and Laura's dog.
Rosalie's professional journey was equally as inspiring. She was employed with the Association for the Blind in Evansville and at Bosman Corp in Indianapolis, where she worked in packing. Rosalie's work ethic and commitment were a source of constant inspiration for those around her. Her retirement did not diminish her zest for life or her desire to contribute to her community. She was a cherished member of Zion Chapel Church in Elwood, where her faith was as palpable as her resilience.
Rosalie's love and memories live on in the hearts of her husband, Robert Lashbrook Jr., her brother Joel Hancock and sister-in-law Debbie, her nephew Joel (wife Ashlynn) Hancock, her niece Nicole (husband Stacy) Meyer, special niece, Laura Evans, and several other great-nephews and nieces. Rosalie was preceded in death by her father Ralph Hancock, mother Annabelle Rittenhouse, nephew J.C. Evans, sister Sue Eliserio, niece Barbara Evans, and special aunt Verga Hutcheson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, 30 May 2025 at 1:00 pm EDT at the Dunnichay Funeral Home, located at 1113 South Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana, 46036. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm EDT at the same location. Burial will take place at Forrestville Cemetery in rural Elwood.
As we remember Rosalie for the resilient and loving soul she was, we encourage you to leave your memories and upload photos of her on her memorial page. Your stories and pictures will help keep her spirit alive in all of us, celebrating the impact she had, and the legacy she leaves behind.
