Obituary
Rosalie was born the only child of Carrie Baker while visiting relatives in Elizabeth, New Jersey on April 2, 1928. Nicknamed Snookie, Rosalie was raised by her grandfather Skace, whom she called Papa, and her grandmother, in Queens, New York before moving with her beloved aunt, Georgiana at 9 years old.
Rosalie met James Tyler while in elementary school and the two married many years later after James returned home from the war (WWII) in May of 1945. James and Rosalie welcomed 4 children, Diana, Arlene, Bruce and Juanita, who only survived a short time after her birth. Raising 3 children with a limited education wasn't easy during that time so Rosalie held many jobs throughout her professional years, including the smokehouse at the White Packing plant, a housekeeper for the Kahn family in Long Island, and office cleaner at a design firm in Manhattan before achieving her General Equivalency Diploma (GED) as an adult, an accomplishment that brought Rosalie great pride. Shortly thereafter, Rosalie retired and moved with her daughter, Arlene, to Trexlertown, Pennsylvania in 1992.
Life in Trexlertown, Pennsylvania was a huge change from New York and Rosalie leaned in to everything the small town had to offer. A lifetime Christian, Rosalie immediately joined Faith Church, where she volunteered for many events and programs. She also volunteered each year at the Antique Car Show and enjoyed meeting the people and marveling at the cars. She played Bingo every week and made many friends but not a lot of money (if you let HER tell it). But it was probably the friendships she made with the neighbors of her development on Brandywine Circle that she treasured most. From early morning walks with neighbors Tony and Gary to house sitting, mail collecting or shoveling snow well into her 80s, Rosalie nurtured the community she lived in as much as she did the family she lived with.
Rosalie is survived by her children, Diana, Arlene and Bruce, her grandchildren, Lisa, Michele, Tanya, Mark and Kevin, great grandchildren Shakeva, Sharnice, Shanita, Ashley, Maniya, Deston and Jonathon and great-great grandchildren, Mekhi, Jayla, Janessa and Jeremiah and Mariah.
