Rosemary Amendola

Rosemary Stephanie Amendola, nee Gottuso, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 16th surrounded by the love of her daughter, friends and her loving caregivers. Born in Manhattan to Anthony and Jean, Rosemary spent her childhood in the Bronx and her teen years in Tenafly, NJ. After marrying Joe at the age of twenty-four, the couple settled in Tenafly where they raised two children, Jane and Scott until retiring to the shore area.
A graduate from the Academy of Holy Angels and Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rosemary had a long career as a dental hygienist, a job well-suited to her gregarious and warm personality.
Rosemary loved people and had a gift of being able to surround herself with wonderful friends who became like family. She could host a great party, welcoming neighbors, friends and friends of friends into her home.
Raised by two musicians, Rosemary kept music alive in her home and had the ability to delight in an eclectic array of musical genres. Her determined spirit led her to take up golf after retiring and her adventurous spirit took her on an African safari and the French countryside with her daughter along with several other international trips with Joe and friends.
Rosemary was an amazingly strong and resilient woman who battled cancer for years like a warrior. She did not let her illness dampen her spirit. Rosemary had a life rich in loving relationships including an affinity for animals who she treated like family.
Rosemary is survived by her daughter Jane, son Scott, daughter-in-law Ari, grandchildren, Sascha and Ziva, sister Geri, brother-in-law Marty, niece Kaitlin and nephew Alex along with many cherished friends who remained a part of her life for decades.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7th at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic's Church, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
