Rosemary A. "Sis" (Kearney) Johnson, 96 passed away just after noon on September 2, 2025, at the Knollwood Nursing Home. She had been living at Briarwood Retirement Community since 2011. Previously she was a long-time resident of Shrewsbury.
Rosemary was the only child of Paul V. Kearney and Rosemary (Gaumond) Kearney. She graduated from South High School and attended Memorial Hospital's nursing program until starting a family with the love of her life, Donald Johnson. She and Don
were married for 71 years.
Even though she was raised in Worcester, she and Don moved their family to Shrewsbury. It was a community that she loved. Together they raised four children, and she dedicated her life to caring for them and participating in continuous family events.
Whether it was celebrating holidays with family, vacationing on the Cape or camping up and down the East coast, she provided delicious meals and many memories. She and Don loved to travel and were able to visit the Canadian Rockies, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, the Caribbean, Africa, Alaska, Hawaii and Denmark to name a few.
Rosemary was predeceased by her husband in 2021. She is lovingly survived by her children; Gail Pessolano of Shrewsbury; Carleen Johnson and her husband, Tom McWalters of Thorndike, Maine; Stephen Johnson of Holden; and Jeffrey Johnson and
his wife Suzette of West Boylston. Rosemary was a gentle soul and touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be fondly remembered by her 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Memorial donations can be made to Jewish Healthcare Center
In keeping with Rosemary's wishes, funeral service will be private.
