Rowan De Boer

Our beloved son, brother and grandchild Rowan T. de Boer, age 21, lost his life Saturday, May 13, 2023. We will miss his sweet and gentle spirit, the joy he exuded, and his everyday common sense. Rowan went to Minadeo Elementary School, then attended the Falk School on the University of Pittsburgh campus for grades 6-8. He loved math and logic. He enjoyed playing board games with us, which he always won. He was a 2019 valedictorian at Pittsburgh Allderdice High School. Rowan was a top swimmer with the Jewish Community Center Sailfish. He attended Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on computer programming. Rowan is survived by his parents, Maarten de Boer and Venetia Pimley (Pittsburgh), his brother Willem de Boer (Pittsburgh), his grandparents Janet Rountree (Charlestown, MA) and Donald and Pat Pimley (Muskegon, MI). He is predeceased by his grandparents Joan and P. C. Tobias de Boer. A memorial gathering will be held at The Pittsburgh Golf Club, 5289 Northumberland St., on Friday, May 19 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jewish Community Center Sailfish in Rowan's name will be kindly accepted.
