Roy "Butch" Case, age 72, died peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024, following a long illness. He was born January, 17 1952, son of R. Roy and Marian Timbrook Case. Butch enjoyed an idyllic upbringing with his parents and siblings on the family farm in Vienna, Virginia, where he had many friends, attended school, played baseball, and graduated from James Madison High.
At a young age, Butch had a knack for making friends, and he made friends everywhere his life's journey took him. He was a laid back, likable guy with a very distinctive and infectious laugh. He inherited (and passed along) the "Case" sense of humor, and this, combined with his incredible story-telling abilities, entertained and endeared him to all that knew and loved him.
He married Charla L. Ellis on November 28, 1969 and began a family, eventually having three sons: Joseph, Charlie and Roy, Jr. He also began working for C&P Telephone and worked there his entire thirty-year career. During his tenure, he witnessed many changes with the company and experienced rapid growth in the Northern Virginia area with it's need for ever changing and improving technology, as well has several company brand changes--AT&T and then Lucent Technologies. When Tyson's Corner Mall expanded in the 1980's, nearly doubling it's size, he was responsible for outfitting the entire project with the necessary wiring and communication systems.
He retired in 1999 and became a full-time farmer at his home farm and areas in Loudoun County and Shanghai, WV.
Then, beginning in 2002, Roy was blessed with his most favorite role: Pop Pop to his cherished grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his adored grandchildren: Buck, Hunter, Jack, Raymond, Austin, Val, Logan and Maddie.
He was a life member of the Rock Fish River Hunt Club.
He is survived by his widow Charla; and sons: Joseph (Alan), Charlie, Roy Jr (Stacey); eight grandchildren; sisters: Sharon Myers and Cathy Wilson. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by brothers: Raymond Case and Daniel Case.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

I played Babe Ruth baseball with Roy. I remember it was 1967 and we were the Jets. In the first inning, Roy hit a Homerun off a future Major League Baseball player named Jay Franklin.

Sitting at the table in his cabin smiling, chain smoking, and making jokes. When he would make a joke, his eyes would twinkle and that is what I will remember. His twinkling eyes
