Roy Lee Gould, 91, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at his home in Mountain Home. He was born on April 26, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri to William Jacob and Viola Elsie (Viehweg) Gould. On June 28, 1952, he and JoAnn Charmaine Newsom went to Pocahontas, Arkansas to be married and were together for the next 73 years. He and JoAnn loved to travel, and their adventures took them to many places, including Canada, Ireland and many parts of Europe. They would often travel in a 24-foot motor home with their children. In high school, Roy excelled in football and basketball. He continued his love for sports by playing racquetball and basketball whenever the opportunity arose. He loved being outdoors. Roy spent much time on the lake in his pontoon boat with his family whenever possible. He had a great love for camping, fishing, hunting and water and snow skiing. He was still snow skiing at the age of 74 and went on an elk hunt at the age of 80. He enjoyed life and spending time with family and friends. Roy will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Gould; four children, Gregory William Gould (Sandy), David Ray Gould (Charolette), Barbara Ann Lange (Lonnie) and Karen Elaine Bowen; one sister, Dorothy Sudduth and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Roy's life will be held at a later date.
