Roy Allen Skog
May 17, 1951 – July 23, 2025
Roy Skog, 74, passed away peacefully at his home in South Jordan on July 23, 2025.
Roy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jack J. and Eloise Jane Potter Skog. He was the oldest of five siblings. Roy and his family grew up in Chesterfield, Utah. Roy graduated from Granger High School in 1969. He worked for Kennecott Copper for 17 years and was a proud member of the union where he learned to be a mechanic through trade school. He then received his A&P License from Trade Tech. He spent over 35 years as a dedicated mechanic for Delta Airlines, where his precision, discipline, and integrity earned him the respect of his colleagues and peers. He proudly retired in 2019 to spend time with family.
Roy was a Freemason and belonged to Uintah Lodge #7, Scottish Rite, and was also an adult mentor for Job's Daughters International. He was raised in 1993 and served in almost every capacity within his Lodge. He is a Past Worshipful Master of Uintah Lodge #7, a Past Associate Bethel Guardian of Bethel #16, and a recipient of the Hiram Award. He enjoyed being with his brothers, serving his community, and supporting Job's Daughters throughout Utah. Many have been a recipient of his kindness, love, and service.
Though reserved by nature, Roy's impact was felt deeply by those around him. He was the kind of man who worked tirelessly behind the scenes so others could enjoy the fruits of his labor. Whether it was a family outing, a weekend trip to the mountains, or a simple day spent fishing, Roy found satisfaction in providing those moments for others-even if he preferred to sit back and watch them unfold.
Roy loved the outdoors and introduced many to its beauty. He especially took joy in teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish, ski, and ride recreational vehicles, patiently passing down his skills and his quiet appreciation for the simple things in life.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Marlett; his brothers, Ronnie and Shane; sister, Patricia; his children, Amy and Jeff; his stepchildren, Aurora and Lauren; his grandchildren, Hayden, Ashlee, Taylor, and Jade; his step-grandson, Adam; and many friends who all love him dearly.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Eloise; his sister, Jackie; and his first wife and mother of his children, Barbara.
Roy's legacy is one of strength, sacrifice, and deep devotion to his family and community. His presence will be deeply missed, but the life he built through hard work, care, and quiet love will continue to bless those he leaves behind.
The family would like to thank Elevation Hospice and Caring Hearts for their love, support, kindness, and friendship through this difficult time.
