Roy Henry Tiarks, age 74, passed away on February 4, 2025, on the Tiarks farm. Roy was born on August 9, 1950, to the late John and Maxine (McCart) Tiarks in Council Bluffs, IA. Roy graduated from Underwood High School with the class of 1968 and was a lifelong farmer, farming alongside his father John Henry Tiarks, his uncle Maxwell McCart, and son John Maxwell Tiarks. He was a 50-year member of St. John's United Church of Christ and a member of Quick Amber Lodge #569. Roy was a member of the Board of Directors of Farmer Mac from May 13, 2021 until his last days. He enjoyed serving on various boards over the past 37 years including the board of directors of Federal Farm Credit Banks Funding Corporation from 2001-2013; the board of directors of AgriBank FCB from 2003-2017; the board of directors of AgAmerica FCB from 1996-2003; the board of directors of PCA of Midlands from 1986-1996; and the board of directors of Agricultural PCA from 1981-1985. With his travels Roy made friends everywhere he went. His quick wit, smile, and one liners will be remembered for years to come and he will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his infant brother, Max Tiarks. Roy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet (Olsen) Tiarks; son John (Karrie) Tiarks and daughter Elizabeth (Matt) Fritzinger; four grandsons, Braden Tiarks, Maxwell Tiarks, Atticus Fritzinger, and Asolo Fritzinger.

Masonic service, Saturday, at 4:30 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Sunday, 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Hardin Township Cemetery. The family invites you to a celebration of life in Roy's honor at Pizza King in Council Bluffs following the graveside.
