Roy Wayne Tippens, age 78, of Winston, Georgia passed away Monday, March 17, 2025. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 22, 1947, son of the late Raymond George Tippens and the late Edna Naomi Pelfrey Tippens. Roy retired from J. G. Tippens Company with 42 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Susan (Hames) Tippens; daughters, Shalon Tippens, Cortlan and husband Chris Dickerson, Kendra Tippens; sister, Martha Petrie; brothers, Jimmy and wife Annette, Daniel Tippens; mother-in-law, "Granny" Hames; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was also preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Jack Tippens; and sisters, Margie Kelley, Helen Young.
Roy: "I made 2,770,421 mistakes in my life."
Daughters: "Oh! Is that all?"
Roy: "Yeah, I think I did pretty well."
Even though this was just Roy being Roy, he accidentally and humbly revealed how good he really was. With a life of over two billion seconds (or chances to make a mistake), he made the right decision about 90 percent of the time. How much better would the world be if we could all strive to do as well as Roy?
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Hightower's Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM in the chapel at the funeral home with Rev. David Richardson officiating.
According to his wishes he has been cremated.
