Ruben Lee Boyd, Jr. of Kingwood, TX passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, in Houston, TX. He was born on October 4, 1936 in Jayess, MS to Ruben and Elder Boyd. As a young child, Ruben and his family moved to Houston, TX. He graduated in 1955 from Jefferson Davis High School and joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter and served in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he worked at Gulf Oil Corporation while attending the University of Houston. He then went to work for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Corporation as a gas supply accountant and retired in 1989 after 25 years of dedicated service.

From an early age, Ruben loved to fish, hunt and take the family on adventurous camping trips. After his retirement, Ruben and Brenda traveled the country seeing our treasured National Parks. They then built a home on Lake Livingston and lived there for five years enjoying waterfront living. In 1996 they moved to Kingwood and shortly thereafter, joined First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood where he was active in Building & Grounds and the Sanctuary Guild. Ruben was also active for many years in Arabia Shriners Hospital and worked tirelessly to raise funds for Shriners Children Hospitals in Houston/Galveston, TX.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Elder Boyd, and beloved grandson, Alec Christopher Hilman.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Louise Taylor Boyd, of 67 years, son, Michael Lee Boyd, daughter, Laura Denise Boyd, and grandson, Hudson Taylor Boyd.

A memorial service for Ruben will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood. A private burial will be at Forest Park Westheimer.
