Russell Thomas Light

Russell Thomas Light, age 80, of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the Hospice of Central Ohio.
Russ was born in Schenectady, New York, on April 12, 1945, to the late Henry Paul Light and Catherine Etta (Bigsbee) Light. He married the love of his life, Patricia (Lincoln) Light, on July 20, 1969, at the Helderberg Reformed Church in Guilderland Center, New York. Together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Russ is survived by his devoted wife Patricia; his daughter Holly Bradley (Matt); granddaughters Emma Bradley and Anna Bradley; and his loyal buddy, Archie. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Norma Ogsbury (Russ) and John Bigsbee.
Over the years, Russell lived in New York, New Jersey, Vermont, and Ohio. His career in electronics manufacturing and management spanned several respected companies including General Electric, Ohio Lamp, Simmonds Precision, Apsco, L&K Assembly, and Rockwell Automation. He was a proud founder and business owner of L&K Assembly.
Russell served honorably in the United States Navy and was actively involved in his community. He was a member and finance officer of the American Legion Post 457 in Sunbury, a finance officer with the Delaware County Veterans Association Honor Guard, and treasurer of the Delaware County Model Railroad Group.
His hobbies included building street rods, fishing, gardening, working on model trains, and cheering on the Cleveland Browns. He loved nothing more than watching his granddaughters play softball and spending time with his family. Known for his wit, tireless energy, and generous heart, Russell's sense of humor and his inability to sit still will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Among his proudest achievements were receiving the Founder's Award at Simmonds Precision, starting his own business, serving his country, and living a full life to the age of 80.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chaple (637 N State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio) beginning at 5pm. A memorial service to honor Russ's life will then begin at 6pm with Certified Funeral Celebrant Thomas Dea'Therage officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Russ's name can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio (269 Cherry Valley Rd SE, Newark, Ohio 43055).
