Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson-Williams Funeral Home on Jun. 27, 2025.
Ruth Ann Davidson, 83, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, March 25, 1942, in Gary, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Ed Frank Gabel and the late Sallie Mae Griggs Gabel.
She was baptized at the age of twelve in Gary, Indiana and she was a member of the Church of Christ.
Ruth Ann was a dedicated employee of Kellwood, where she worked in the sewing department. She began her career there in 1962 and remained for thirty-seven years until the plant closed. She was known for her strong work ethic and attention to detail.
A true Southern soul, Ruth Ann loved to cook and had a deep passion for collecting cookbooks. In her younger years, she especially enjoyed time spent at Kentucky Lake, where she made some of her fondest memories with her family.
Music was another one of Ruth Ann's greatest joys, especially classic country music. Narvel Felts, Gene Watson and Alan Jackson were some of her favorites, and their songs were often playing in the background as she went about her day.
She cherished the country life, finding peace and contentment in the beauty of nature. One of her greatest pleasures was sitting on her front porch, admiring her flowers and watching the crops grow-a daily reminder of God's handiwork and the blessings of rural living.
She had a natural gift for conversation and never met a stranger. Her kind spirit, ready smile, and genuine love for people made her a friend to many. One of her most cherished possessions was a photo collage frame filled with pictures of her family-it was, to her, like a daily visit with the people she loved most.
Ruth Ann's life was filled with simple pleasures, heartfelt connections, and a steadfast faith that carried her through.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at China Grove Baptist Church located at 1 China Grove Church Road Kenton, Tennessee 38233. Officiating this service will be Bro. Michael Roberson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Jane Ayers (Davy) of Dyer, Tennessee and Beth Haulum (Michael) of Arlington, Tennessee; her companion and friend, John Finch of Mason Hall, Tennessee; one sister, Alice Williams of Dyer, Tennessee and she was "Grandmother Ruth" to her two grandsons, Christopher Acred (Rebecca) and Paul Alan Haulum (Clarissa Hohnadel) and great granddaughters, Isabelle and Hazel. She also leaves a host of special grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family that she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Ray Davidson and three brothers, Ed Gabel, Jimmy Gabel and Jerry Gabel.
