Ruth Feldheim, age 90, of Saint Augustine, Florida passed away on Sunday, July 28th, 2024. Ruth is survived by her loving husband Robert Feldheim, age 94, who recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Ruth's four daughters- Lezle, Michele, Jessica, and Joanna, her two grandchildren Lewis and Lila Zelnick were her pride and joy her most treasured accomplishment.
Born in 1934 in Leipzig, Germany, Ruth was an only child of both Jewish and German Protestant descent, who then escaped Nazi Germany in the summer of 1940 and bribed their way out of Europe with money and jewelry- a long journey from Leipzig to Warsaw, to London, then on a boat to Sao Paolo, Brazil. After 5 years in South America, they emigrated to Brooklyn, New York, where her father Ben owned and operated a dry cleaning service.
She lived on Ocean Parkway, attended Erasmus Hall High School, then worked in NYC as a secretary. At the age of 19, she first met Robert on a blind date and fell madly in love. They were Married in 1955.
Ruth gave birth to all four girls by the time she was 26. Parenting and hard work became the focus of their lives.

When her children grew older, Ruth worked in marketing at Robert's advertising agency "Mad Ave East". And in her 40's, Ruth earned her Masters in Social Work from Stony Brook University, then post graduate Certification in Gestalt Therapy. She then worked at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, as well as in private practice.
Ruth self published a book of poems dedicated to her experiences as a young child of the Holocaust.
