Ruth Marie Haskins, of Joplin, MO, passed away at Spring River Christian Village, on January 20, 2024, at 7:51 p.m., with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Ruth was 79 years old. She was born in Monett, MO, on October 08, 1944. Ruth married John Crowell of Pierce City, MO, on July 15, 1961. They were blessed with one son, Joseph Patrick, on April 17, 1963. Ruth divorced John in February of 1971. She then moved to Butterfield, MO, where she lived with her mother, Ruby Marie (Lansdown) Amos. Ruth went to Draughn Business College where she received training in Bookkeeping. She later used those bookkeeping skills for Fritz Brothers in Monett, MO, Hamilton-Patten Construction in Mt. Vernon, MO, Hamilton Contracting in Mt. Vernon, MO, and for H&R Block in Republic, MO. Ruth also spent time tending bar at the Black Kettle restaurant in Monett, MO. Ruth married Gerald Haskins of Nixa, MO, on August 16, 1984. Ruth and Gerald ran a construction company for many years. Her last employment was for the city of Billings as City Clerk. She retired from her working life in 2019.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Haskins, her parents Oscar and Marie Amos, her sisters, Enid, Lola and an infant sister Sherry, and her brothers Don and Charles.
Ruth is survived by her son Joe Crowell of Pierce City, MO, a granddaughter, and her sister Judi Walker of Mt. Vernon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church (200 E Front St. Pierce City, MO) on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Matt Rehrauer officiating. Burial will take place at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
