Ruth Irene Hollas of Little River-Academy passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Ruth was born April 7, 1935, in Yarrelton, Texas to Mr. & Mrs. Henry and Hermina Olis. Ruth had one sibling, an older brother, Henry J. Olis of Levelland, Texas. She was raised on a farm in Yarrelton and was very accustomed to hard work, such as picking cotton by hand in a hot Texas summer. She graduated from Cameron High School in 1953. She then married “The Love of Her Life”, Andrew W. Hollas on June 25, 1955, in Burlington, Texas and they were very fortunate to have spent almost 65 years together. They were lifetime members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple and Ruth was a proud member of the St. Mary’s Alter Society. Together they raised three sons: Ernest, Garland, and Leonard Hollas. She also retired after many years of service in the Bell County Clerk’s Office in Belton, Texas.

She was preceded in the death by her parents, Henry and Hermina Olis of Cameron; her husband, Andrew W. Hollas of Little River-Academy; and her brother, Henry J. Olis of Levelland, Texas. She is survived by her three sons, Ernest Hollas and wife, Kathy of Salado, Garland Hollas and wife, Susan of Little River-Academy, and Leonard Hollas and wife, Jessica of Salado. She leaves behind six grandchildren, Brandon Hollas and wife, Christina of Salado, Brad Hollas and wife, Stephanie of Heidenheimer, Eric Hollas of Little River-Academy, Andrew Hollas of Little River-Academy, Austin Hollas of Salado, and Alaina Hollas of Salado. Ruth also has two great grandchildren, Addison Hollas of Salado, and William Hollas of Heidenheimer.

Ruth’s greatest joy in life was spending as much time as possible with her family and friends, as well as her pup named Walker. She loved to go polka dancing with Andrew on a Saturday evening. She enjoyed helping friends and neighbors in the community and shared her baking with everyone. She was well known for her prize winning homemade Kolaches and Red Velvet Cake. She was a great example of a “Life Well Lived” and will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
