Ruth P. Whitworth, 94 of Franklin, passed away on Thursday morning, August 21, 2025.

She was born on May 12, 1931 in Bradfordville, Kentucky to Samuel B. and Arzona (Lay) Goode. Ruth married Floy W. Whitworth on May 10, 1947. He preceded her in passing. She is survived by son, William "Bill" Whitworth (Susan); daughter, Doris Shaw (Phillip); grandchildren, Robert Whitworth (Erica), Sarah Zeilinga (Bryan), Jessica Webb, Emily Silverman (Daniel), and Aaron Shaw (Julie); great-grandchildren, Samuel Shaw, Maria Shaw, Micah Silverman, Isaiah Silverman, Madelyn Whitworth, Megan Whitworth, Elijah Webb, Avery Webb, Thea Zeilinga and Connor Zeilinga. She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Floy; brothers, Charlie Goode and Samuel Goode; and sisters Lillie Newberry, Hazel Wagerman, Christine Williams, Lillian V. Burchell, Geneva Goode, Susie Goode and Jane Courtwright.

Ruth had worked for Dage Electric, Bendix Corporation and Specialty Connectors.

She was a member of Shiloh Community Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and served as a member on the Social Committee and was a communion stewardess.

Ruth loved her flowers, especially roses. She loved preparing Sunday lunch for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was extremely concerned about each of her family members.

Ruth came from a very talented musical family. She played guitar, banjo, organ and piano. She loved country music. She and her husband Floy enjoyed traveling out West and also to Nashville, Tennessee to the Grand Ole Opry, Branson, Missouri, Canada, Florida and Kentucky.

The family would like to thank the angels in the Memory Care unit at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation for their kindness and care they provided to Ruth.

Pastor Mike Crockett will conduct a Celebration of Ruth's life on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with Visitation on Tuesday, August 26th from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Community Church, 5117 E. Greensburg Road, Franklin, Indiana 46131.
