Ryan Wade Laymon, 53 of Martinsville, died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, June 21st, 2025. He was one of three sons born to Roger Keith and Rita June (Schell) Laymon. Ryan was born on Saturday, January 29th, 1972, in Martinsville, Indiana. He was a member of the graduating class of 1990 from Martinsville High School and the Model Railroad Club. Upon graduating high school, Ryan worked in the meat department at the Martinsville Kroger for approximately seven years, while serving as a volunteer fireman. In April of 1997, he gained employment with the Martinsville Water Department, where he worked until becoming a firefighter and EMT with the Martinsville Fire Department in September of 1998. Ryan was a steadfast employee of the fire department for over 24 years, retiring in January of 2025. He had an 'old soul' and a deep appreciation for nature and the great outdoors. He loved flower gardening, hiking, camping, traveling, especially to England, woodworking and motorcycling. Ryan also enjoyed building and running remote-controlled boats and had recently taken up charcoal drawing, at which he was quite talented. He made various pieces of furniture over the years and constructed his own motorcycle after watching several do-it-yourself videos. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends including his mother, Rita Laymon of Martinsville, IN; brothers, Richard "Rick" (wife, Bobbi) Laymon and Randy (Mandy) Laymon both of Martinsville, IN; nieces, Jacinda Laymon and Nina Payne; nephews, Derrick, Eli and Caleb Laymon; great nephew, Devin Laymon; dear friends, Laura Jones and 'Little Mary'; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be a private service for Ryan, and he will be laid to rest in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville, Indiana. Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center has been entrusted with his final arrangements. Fond memories and heartfelt condolences may be shared with Ryan's family online at www.nealandsummers.com

My heartfelt condolences go out to Ryan´s family and friends. Although I didn´t know Ryan personally, I´ve been lifelong friends with his mother, Rita. I also graduated from Martinsville High School (class of 1964) with his parents, Rita (Shell) and Roger Laymon. I´m so sorry for your loss. Prayers continue for your family.
