Sally Lepp Obituary
Sally Ann (Schoenlein) Lepp was weary and died on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 88. We miss her already and don't know how to thank her, but she needed to be refreshed.
Sally is survived in death by her loving husband of 66 years, John Lepp; two daughters, Tammy (Aaron) Lepp Killebrew and Katie (Cassandra Egalite) Lisa Lepp; one son, William "Bil" (Paula) Kerry Lepp and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sally was an only child and the mother of five children, plus her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith was a set of eyes by which she could only see God dimly. But more useful than that, her faith was also a set of eyes by which she saw the world as God sees it. Her faith was not just thinking; it was trust - even though the most important, beloved and trusted men in her life, her father and her first two sons, had each been taken from her ruthlessly, young and tragically. Acts of God? Sally understood our lives are fashioned by the same hand that has guided the stars since creation. And when God, who chooses to share His power with others, puts His children in the furnace, God is right in there with them. She always knew we cannot escape from one world to another but that we must be in one world but of another. She understood that God's word only becomes God's word through event.
Along with the events of being a pastor's wife and a fabulous mother of five fabulous kids, Sally spent years as a certified teacher of multiple children with special needs, whose pitiful conditions and suffering were not from any sin of their own but a prelude far more rigorous than ours to a fabulous resurrection and future for them. These kids, along with Sally's daddy and her two sons will be the first in line to greet her on her arrival in Glory. Sally's life shows that she was not only a believer, better than that; Sally was an understander. That's what all parents, teachers and preachers pray for in their families, classes, communities and congregations. But for now, we can hear her daddy and her two sons say along with Jesus: "Really well done good and faithful servant, enter the kingdom prepared for you!" And then, finally, a benediction from the prophet Isaiah, "This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest, and this, Sally, is the refreshing." (Is 28:12)
