Sam L. Douthitt Sr.

Sam L. Douthitt, Sr., age 51, of Marion, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at his home.
He was born on September 12, 1973 in Memphis, TN, to Ray and Jorene (Holdner) Douthitt.
He married Brandy LaNea Keller on April 17, 2001 and together they have shared over 24 years of marriage.
Sam worked as an auto mechanic and tow truck driver for Gator Automotive in Carbondale for several years, but most recently owned and operated Sam & Sons Services, a contracting and lawn service in Marion.
Sam was of Christian faith and formerly attended Marion Church of Christ. In his younger years, he was a member of the American Boxing Association and the Realistic Martial Arts Training Association. Sam loved the outdoors, particularly spending time in nature, especially being in the woods and riding dirt bikes.
He is survived by his wife, Brandy Douthitt of Marion, IL; sons, Sam Douthitt, Jr., of Marion, IL and Payne Douthitt (Tristen Modlin) of Carbondale, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Noah Douthitt.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
In accordance with Sam's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
