Sam was my first boss after graduating from college many years ago. He was funny, boisterous and had great integrity. I would infrequently get to see him over the years and nothing changed.. same Sam. I am very sorry to hear of his passing and hope the Faith he had is shared by his family to help them in this difficult time.

It seems like I got to know Sam for only a "few minutes" during this too-brief time he was with us at Temple Emunah in Lexington, MA. I feel lucky that I got to know him at all. He was quite a presence as he burst onto the scene with his big voice and beautiful singing. Several times I sat with him at Shabbat kiddush and learned he was a most interesting and funny person, very proud of his kids (the reason why he moved to this area) and equally patient to let me sit and humble-boast about my own daughter. A charming person, gone to soon, he will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear the news of Sam's passing. We had the pleasure and privilege of being in his congregation over the years. He sang from the depth of his soul. And what an amazing laugh! Sending heartfelt condolences to the family.

I just heard about Sam's passing. I remember him as an amazing force of humanity and energy. I first met him at Temple Beth David when he came in to be the cantor with Rabbi Skopitz.
He invited me to sing as the Cantor for High Holiday services at a different synagogue when he was already committed to another that year. He mentored and encouraged me as I learned all the music.
I will always hold a special place in my heart for Sam.

Sam had an ability to write songs, that were very insightful, lively and fun. He had a wonderful voice. And a loud, strong laugh. I enjoyed the Golden Link Folk Singing Club nights, when he came!

We will always remember Sam (and Shelli) as the most loving and caring neighbors. They welcomed us to the neighborhood, into their home, their sukkah, Sam´s incredible rib roast recipe and their pool (!) with open arms. We will forever feel grateful for knowing them, and will carry their loving spirit forward.
We will miss you, Sam. Sending your family love and peace.

I had the incredible privilege and joy to visit Sam just a few weeks ago when he had lots of energy, was spry, joyous and full of energy. He sang a number of his wonderful songs along with his guitar, with incredible melody, lyrics, flow, poetry, rhyme - you name it. I listened, we laughed and we sang. I feel so fortunate to have had that meeting with him, a meeting with someone who was and will forever be very very special, for the joy he gave to the world.
