Samuel Good Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Windsor Locks Funeral Home on Dec. 21, 2025.
Samuel H. Good, 82, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of the late Rita (Rodgoski) Good, peacefully passed away on Saturday, Dec 20, 2025. He was born in Plymouth, PA on October 30, 1943, the son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Good.

Sam was a graduate of Plymouth High School in Plymouth, Pennsylvania, where he proudly lettered in both football and baseball. He went on to attend Penn State University before moving to Connecticut, where he began his career as a draftsman at Combustion Engineering, where he worked for 30 years. While working full time, he completed his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at Western New England College, a testament to his determination and strong work ethic.

An avid sports fan, Sam loved watching games and was especially devoted to New England teams, including the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and UConn men's and women's basketball. Sports remained a lifelong passion as he enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams.

Sam was also a true do-it-yourselfer who took great pride in his home. He enjoyed tackling projects himself, and among his greatest accomplishments was installing his own in-ground swimming pool, a project that reflected both his mechanical skill and perseverance.

Sam is survived by his devoted daughter, Amy Samplatsky and her husband Darren of Melbourne, FL, and his cherished grandchildren, Joshua and Madelyn.

Above all, Sam will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose sense of humor, quiet determination, loyalty, and dedication to family left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are welcome for calling hours from 10 to 11 am on Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11 am. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to McLean Hospice, McLean Development Office, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, CT 06070.
