Samuel Jay Homier, 56, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in Oklahoma City with his family by his bedside. He was born on October 22, 1968, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Charles Everett and Sandra Lea (Frazier) Homier.
In April 1988, Sam enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country for twenty-two years and nine months until retiring in September 2010 at the rank of E7. Sam proudly served 2 tours in Korea 1990-1991 and 2001-2002, Germany, 1991-1994 and three tours in Iraq, 2003-2004, 2005-2006, and 2008-2009 and received, many commendation medals, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal 5X's, Army Achievement Medal 12X's, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal 7X's, National Defense Service Medal 2X's, and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. He met and later married his best friend and love of his life, Dana Fryar, on September 5, 1998, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Sam was a gifted athlete excelling in both football and baseball and was planning on playing at a collegiate level until a motorcycle accident ended his career. Following his military service, he worked briefly as a landscaper and later as a mechanic at Duitt Construction, maintaining equipment during contract periods.
Sam found joy in many passions throughout his life. He loved visiting Little Sahara Sand Dunes with his Uncle Danny and the Homier family to ride sand rails. He and his wife Dana hosted memorable Super Bowl parties for fellow military couples, where Sam was known for grilling burgers. A devoted OU football fan, he rarely missed a Saturday game, regardless of where he lived.
He enjoyed rebuilding his Camaro hot rod and supported Dana in her Pomeranian breeding and show business. An avid motocross dirt bike racer himself, Sam also took pride in watching his daughters-Brittany racing quads and Briann competing in Hunter Jumper events and target shooting. He taught both girls how to fish at a young age, and the family cherished outings at friends, Dan and Anne's, lake house with his mother Sandy, fishing and having some good barbeques. Both girls are talented singers, and he loved to listen to them sing together.
In retirement, Sam worked as a ranch foreman, often seen riding with his dog Lizzy to check on cattle. He was always ready to lend a helping hand-whether to friends or strangers-and loved swapping stories with those around him.
Above all, Sam cherished time with his wife Dana-whether enjoying frozen Cokes, eating crab, or simply being together. His legacy of service, strength, and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Sam is now reunited with his paternal grandfather, Edward Homier; paternal grandmother, Billie Homier; maternal grandfather, Edward Z. Wilkinson; maternal grandmother, Kathryn Wilkinson; and uncle, Robert Frazier.
Those left to cherish Sam's memory are his wife, Dana of the home; daughters, Briann Homier of Oklahoma City and Brittany Homier of Piedmont, Oklahoma; father, Everett Homier of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; mother, Sandra Homier of Guthrie, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Shirley Flaska and husband Jim of
