Samuel "Scott" Simmons, 67, of Trenton, NJ, transitioned from this place to the best place on August 31, 2025. Scott was the oldest of four children welcomed on January 2, 1958, by Samuel 'Buddy' Simmons and Dorothy Hardison Scott.
Born in Summit, NJ, he spent his formative years in Plainfield, NJ, where he graduated from Plainfield High School. Scott demonstrated his athletic ability early, being a star pitcher in the Kiwanis Boys Baseball League - a gift that would persist to him becoming a founding member and pitcher for the legendary regional team, The Strollers, in Plainfield, NJ. He was also a league bowler and Dallas Cowboys enthusiast. Within his many talents, he also crooned in high school talent shows, where he was affectionately known as 'Scotty Notes'.
Known to prefer power suits and Cadillacs, Scott's "Man of The World" personality manifested as he became a small business owner. He was a risk taker. Full of wit and charm, he had a presence that could not go unnoticed.
Scott was a firm believer in the word of God. He was baptized at Orange Valley Baptist Church in Orange, NJ, where he served on the Transportation Ministry. During the time that he lived in Charlotte, NC, he became a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where he served with Men of Valor.
Scott's precious soul will continue to echo with his daughter, Andera Lynn Simmons-Nelson (Corey); son, Daiquan Omri Simmons; grandsons, Rhasan Thomas, Jr., Corey Nelson, Jr., and Kyroh Nelson; siblings, Craig (Mary), Derek (Denise); and Leann; bonus brother, Anthony; former spouse, Dollinda; a multitude of beloved cousins from the Hayes, Hardison, and Simmons families; a host of other relatives; and loyal and favored lifetime friendships.
