Sandra J. Guth

Sandra J. Guth, 66 of Meadville, PA died unexpectedly at home on January 23, 2022. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA daughter of Curtis and Claudia Wright who preceeded her in death. Sandy graduated from Plum Senior High School in 1974 where she excelled in swimming and softball. She graduated from Edinboro University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and moved to Colorado to work in the oil & gas industry before returning to Northwestern Pennsylvania where she worked as a hydrogeologist at the Erie County Health Department. She later worked for the Department of Environmental Protection in the Northwest Regional Office as a geologist until she retired after 23 years of service there. It was while she was working for the Erie County Department of Health she met her current husband, John Guth and of all places, on a softball field, and were married on October 20, 1990. She and her husband were active in Grey-Save of Northwestern PA., rescuing, adopting and fostering numerous greyhounds for over 20 years. Sandy had a wonderful green thumb but her specialty was growing orchids and won many awards for her orchids at various shows in Northwestern PA, Ohio and Western New York. She was a talented oil paint artist and painted many canvas oil paintings but laid down her brushes to be a wonderful mother and wife. After retirement, she found a new hobby and raised English and French Bulldogs and they miss her very much. She was passionate fan of the Penguins, Pirates and Steelers.
Sandy is remembered with love by her husband, John, her son Tobin Lang of Meadville, her grandson Caleb Hirsch, Erie, PA., brothers Robert (Joyce) Wright, Plum, PA., Steve (Amy) Wright, Littleton CO, nieces Elizabeth (Wright) Bennet, Madison (Wright) Poos, Emily Wright and nephew Sawyer Wright.
Calling hours will be Monday January 31, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at First Christian Church, 503 N. Main St Ext Meadville, PA. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am with Robert McGuire, Pastor officiating. Due to health concerns, the family requests that everyone be properly masked.
