Sandra L. Hemmerle "Sandy" 87, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Lansdale on Monday, May 20, 2024. She was the loving wife of 63 years to the late R. Bruce Hemmerle, who passed away in January of 2023.
Born in Lansdale, she was a daughter of the late John and Virginia (Fesmire) Livezey.
Sandy was born and raised in Lansdale. She was employed by Bell Telephone prior to starting her family.
Sandy has always loved baseball. Her brother Dave played for the Lansdale Tigers, and it was while watching those games that a pitcher named Bruce Hemmerle caught her eye. They were married in 1959.
Sandy thrived in her role as wife, mother, and homemaker. She and Bruce raised their family in a close-knit neighborhood full of other young families. Life was full of family and neighborhood gatherings, kids sporting events, band practices and summer afternoons spent at the local pool. Bruce was a volunteer with Fairmount Fire Company and Sandy volunteered with the Ladies Auxiliary. Summer vacations were spent in Ocean City, NJ. Sandy brought love and laughter to everything she did. Her love of family only grew as she welcomed and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sandy was also an avid Phillies fan. She always said Heaven better have baseball or she would find a way back. Go Phillies!
Sandy is survived by her children, Lynne Scott (Fred), Jeffrey Hemmerle (Michelle), and Kristin Detweiler (Paul); grandchildren Bethany (Mark), Bryan (Colleen), Tyler, Haley (Buddy), Rebecca (Bobby), and Elizabeth; great grandchildren Chase, Bryan Jr., Troy, Evren, and Cora. In addition to her husband, Bruce, and their beloved dog Duke, she is predeceased by her brother David Livezey, sister Peggy Hughes.
A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:30 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale. Memorial services will begin at 1:30pm. Burial services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sandy's name to the Fairmount Fire Company, at 100 Vine St, Lansdale, PA 19446 would be greatly appreciated by her family and the Fire Company, where her husband served for over 50 years.

I knew Sandy and Bruce. I worked in the dental office they went to. Sandy was the funniest person I´ve ever met!!! She would come into the office and make us laugh so much, we would laugh the rest of the day. And boy did she LOVE her Phillies!!!! She had plenty of love to share. This is a great loss
