Sandra Lee Nowak, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home on August 7, 2024.
She was born to parents Donald and Betty Movinski at the Delray Hospital on January 18, 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her husband Richard, sisters, Bonnie Knisely and Cher Rusling, and nephews, Todd Blake, Brad Blake, and Jonah Rusling.
Sandie or 'Moe' as her classmates and friends from the Walled Lake, MI area called her lived in Highland Park MI until the family moved to Walled Lake. She graduated from Walled Lake Central Highschool in 1965, and married husband Richard July 8, 1967.
Sandie moved to the Alpena area in 1975 and lived with Richard at Long Lake for her remaining days. She was a fun loving, ready for any adventure woman. She was an accomplished Great Lakes fisherwoman, hunted deer, and loved running her beloved beagles. Her favorite activities were garage and estate sales, browsing 'St. Vinnies', Salvation Army, and of course WalMart.
Sandie was a very active member of the team that rebuilt the New Presque Isle Township Fire Department and was instrumental in acquiring the necessary funding for the Department's ice and water rescue equipment. She will be missed.
Sandie has been taken for cremation with no services planned at this time. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
