Sandra Joan Peak/Sandy/Jo/Jo Toddy, age 79, of Eucha, OK went to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in Tahlequah, OK. She was born on July 23, 1945 in Tahlequah, OK to her parents Woodrow and Leona Peak.
Sandra attended Elementary School at Oaks Mission, Oaks, OK, She graduated from Sequoyah High School, Tahlequah, OK as their Salutatorian with the Class of 1963. Sandra continued her education at Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree with the Class of 1967. After college she was a Social Worker for the State of Oklahoma in Delaware County. Then later she moved to Alaska and was a Social Worker for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Anchorage, Alaska. Several years later she moved back home where she was hired at the Cherokee Nation by Chief W.W. "Bill" Keeler. Sandra was tasked with and instrumental in establishing the Cherokee Nation's Substance Abuse/Behavioral Health Program where she served as a Counselor for most of her 42 years of employment with the tribe. In all, she served 6 administrations at the Cherokee Nation before she retired in 2013. The Cherokee Nation's Behavioral Health Program she helped establish has helped thousands of tribal members struggling with life's many challenges. She was very proud of being a part of helping others in need in any way she could and loved her job. After retirement Sandra just lived life to the fullest, until she lost her vision to glaucoma, she loved reading and hunting crawdads when she was able to. Most of all, she loved her family and loved spending time with them as much as she could. Sandra will be forever missed and loved by her family and friends.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents Woodrow and Leona Peak; Daughter Michelle Peak; Brother Dana "Skipper" Peak; Sister Woodena Ellis; Sister Paula Peak; Sister Sharon Haag and brother Paul Wilson.
Sandra is survived by her son Bradley Peak of Tahlequah, OK; Granddaughter Joni Peak of Tahlequah, OK; Grandson Ace Ritchie of Catoosa, OK; Great-grandson Kingston Ketcher of Tahlequah, OK; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she was proud of all.
Sandra's Celebration of Life Family Visitation to greet friends will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 6:00-8:00pm at Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Chapel, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK 74346.
Sandra's Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, 10:00am, June 20, 2025 at Sycamore Springs Baptist Church, 17377 E. 425 Rd., Jay, OK 74346 with Pastor Duke Pickup officiating. Followed by Sandra's funeral procession to Peak Family Cemetery in Eucha, OK.
Sandra's burial will be at Peak Family Cemetery in Eucha, OK.
Arrangements are entrusted to Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK 74346 with Shaunda J. Lawson, 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
