Sandra Ann "Sandy" Speck, 63-year-old Vinita resident, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born on July 11, 1960, in Afton, Oklahoma. Sandy grew up in Vinita, and attended Vinita Schools, she was raised by her parents, Lena Maxine (Martin) Rombach Branch, and her fathers, Emil F. Rombach and B. P. Branch. She had managed the Subway Sandwich shop for a time and had worked at Deward and Paulines restaurant for a time. Sandy married Bill Speck on January 1, 1991, in Miami, Oklahoma. She enjoyed horses, taking road trips, going to the lake, and spending time with her grandson when she could.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Randy Gail Rombach in 2021.
The family includes her loving husband Bill of the home, daughter, Amanda Stamps and husband Virgil of Skiatook, stepson Kyle Derosia of Claremore, brother, Clyde Willard and wife Anita of Collinsville, sister Wendy Peek of Norman, step sisters, Lisa Riley and husband John of Vinita, Kim Phariss of Fairland, grandchild, Alex Jobe of Ohio, brothers in law, David Tune of Springfield, MO, and Robert Tune of Miami, sister in law Lawanda Juarez of Tahlequah, special cousin, Tyler Martin, and childhood friend, Janice Perkins, numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita.
The celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Freewill Baptist Church in Vinita, with Pastor Justin Turner officiating. Interment will follow at the Military Cemetery near Langley. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in the care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services of Vinita.
