Sandy Andrus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holden Cremation & Funeral Service - Sparta on Jan. 3, 2026.
Sandy Andrus passed on December 27th 2025 leaving behind a life rich with love, adventure, and unwavering support for those she held dear. She was the beloved wife of Howard Andrus for 43 years, a devoted mother to her two adult children, and a proud grandmother to her cherished two-year-old granddaughter. She is also survived by a nephew and her two sisters, with whom she shared a lifelong love of adventure and an unbreakable bond.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Sandy felt most at home exploring the world alongside her husband in their camper van, hiking winding trails, or gliding across the water on her kayak and paddle board. Nothing could keep her inside-she embraced the outdoors year-round, always eager for fresh air and new experiences.
Beyond her love of nature, Sandy was deeply passionate about helping others live healthier, fuller lives. Even after stepping away from her career as an exercise physiologist, she continued to encourage, support, and educate those around her in matters of health and fitness. This same dedication carried into her personal life, where she steadfastly supported her family regardless of the challenges, and stood beside them through every chapter and endeavor of their lives.
Open-minded, fiercely competitive, and endlessly curious, Sandy was never afraid to try something new. Whether tackling a home improvement project, taking on a new physical challenge like pickleball and CrossFit, or baking a special strawberry cake each year for her daughter's birthday, she approached life with determination, creativity, and heart. She loved time spent with her granddaughter, cherished time spent outdoors, and believed deeply in living fully and authentically.
While not outwardly religious, Sandy held a quiet, lifelong belief in God and heaven, a faith rooted in her childhood and carried gently within her.
Her strength, generosity, and adventurous spirit will be profoundly missed but forever remembered by those who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the lives she touched, and the countless memories made under open skies and on open water.
A gathering to share our love for Sandy will be held on January 17th, 2025 from 10a-12p at Cassidy Station in Nixa, MO. This will be a casual and informal gathering, those who wish to attend are encouraged to come and go as they please.
Her family would like to invite those who knew and loved her to bring a new or used book to be donated in her honor to neighborhood free libraries they encounter on future adventures. Those who cannot attend but still wish to participate the family encourages you to donate a book of your choice to a free library in your area.
