Sara Lee Beard, 95, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at her residence.
Born in Dallas, Texas on November 29, 1929, Sara Lee grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and met her childhood sweetheart in the fourth grade. His name was Robert William "Bob" Beard. With a degree in Home Economics, she graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and married Bob in 1952. They were married for 59 years until his passing in January 2012.
Sara Lee and Bob had a son, Lenwood, and a daughter, Diana, both raised in Tallahassee, Florida. A member of the Capitol City Garden Club, Sara Lee was a Mary Kay consultant for 40 years and also a member of the First Baptist Church in Tallahassee for over 40 years. Bob built a 56 foot schooner in their back yard and they sailed to the Caribbean Islands for ten months. They were assisted in this adventure by a rotation of young men consisting of Andy and Aaron George who helped Bob build the boat along with Josiah Ivey and their son Lenwood.
Sara Lee moved to Flemingsburg, Kentucky one and a half years ago to live with her daughter Diana Lee Jackson and her husband, Dan.
Sara Lee will be missed by her family and will be always loved by them.
In addition to Bob and her parents, Sara Lee was preceded in death by her son Lenwood.
Sara Lee will be privately cared for by Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.
She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
