Funeral services for Mrs. Sara E. Cosper, 92, of Weaver, will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Merritt and Jackie Williams will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Sara will be laid to rest following the service in Anniston Memorial Gardens.
Sara died on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at NEARMC.
Preceding Sara in death are her husband, James Ray Cosper; her father and mother, Earley and Cora Griffith Medders; and her brothers, Donald Medders, Royce Medders, and Larry Medders.
Those left to cherish the memory of Sara include her sons, Randy (Sherry) Cosper and Terry Cosper; her grandchildren, Keri (Chris) Johnson, Jamie (Rikki) Cosper, Melinda (Lee) Amberson, and Katie Cosper; her great-grandchildren, Emily, Abby, and Will Johnson, Alexa Cosper, Steven and Samantha Amberson, and Greysen Hutson; one sister, Mary Torkar; and many nieces and nephews.
Sara retired from the City of Weaver where she worked as a water board clerk and as city clerk. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Weaver. Sara loved her family and her community. She will always be remembered for her red velvet cake, pecan pies, and the beautiful quilts she made and gifted her family and friends.
Pallbearers for Sara will be Jamie Cosper, Chris Johnson, Will Johnson, Jimbo Cosper, Mike Fulmer, and Tommy Read.
Special thanks is given from the Cosper family to her caregivers Katherine Brewster and Dianne Tidmore whom she dearly loved, and also to McClellan Senior Living Center for their continued kindness and compassion.
