Sarah G. Moore was born on February 8, 1933 to Sarah B. & George B. Moore in Meridian, Oklahoma, the 4th child out of 10.
Sarah's parents; sisters, Bettie Mae & Annie Laura; her brothers, Glenn, George Jr., Charles, Robert Lee, Earnest, Roy James, & Alfred Gene preceded her in death.
Sarah graduated from L'Ouverture High School in 1953. She received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1960. Her first job lasted 13 years at St. Anthony's Hospital. She was very dedicated to her profession. She worked at both hospitals in Guthrie, Guthrie Job Corps, & several of the Nursing Homes in Guthrie for many years; specializing in Home Health & Private Duty. Whether she was on the clock or at home, she loved caring for others needs. Everyone knew to come to Nurse Moore. In 1984 she became the Head Nurse at Langston University Infirmary. Sarah stayed at LU for 29 years until she retired in 2010; then decided to go back to work & later retired in 2013. Sarah was also the Town Clerk for Meridian City Council for a number of years.
Sarah accepted Christ at an early age & was a devoted member of St. Paul Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, actively served as a member of the Social Uplift Club; Vice President of the Choir, & past President of the St. Paul Women's Missionary Society. Sarah was well known for her beautiful soprano voice where she blessed others in song. Sarah often sang "Precious Lord, If I Can Help Somebody, & Be Careful". She also was a member of the Logan County Black Heritage Choir.
Sarah was called to her heavenly home by her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on September 19th, 2024 at 11:52 p.m. surrounded with family. Sarah leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sarah Ann Reid (Bruce) of Guthrie, OK, 1 granddaughter, Brittany Reid, 1 grandson, Bryan Reid; 2 great-granddaughters Bri'Elle and Brie'Lynn Heags; all of Guthrie, OK. 3 Sister-N-Laws, Agnes Moore, Susie Moore and Ann Moore, all of Oklahoma City, OK, 2 special nieces Barbara K. Young & Beverly Edmond; 2 special nephews, Glenn Smith & Eldon Moore (California) and 4 extended grandchildren Shilah Young, Sierra Young, Legend Young & Crystal Smith. God daughter, LaVon Smith; & a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sarah will be sadly missed by her church family and loves ones.
There are some people in life that make you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger, & love a little harder..... Sarah Grace. We will always share the fond memories of Sarah singing songs with her amazing soprano voice, joking around with her witty sense of humor & decorating for Christmas.
Always caring for and treating the sick ones in the community. Sarah would like to let you all know that her work here is done. On September 19. 2024 at 11:52 p.m., she received her wings. Sarah will be greatly missed by all who came in contact with her.
