Sarah Kibble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Park Funeral Home - Rochester on Feb. 3, 2023.
Sarah Florence Kibble was born on Sunday, May 30, 1926 in Rochester, Illinois at the historic "Old Stone House". She passed away on the morning of Monday, January 30, 2023 in Springfield, Illinois with her loving son by her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred James "Jim" Kibble; father Benjamin Franklin Horning;
mother, Daisy Corine Hoover;
brother, Tommy Carpenter
and sister, Lula Mae Carpenter.
She is survived by her son and caretaker, Alan Jay Kibble;
Daughter, Roxanna Lynn Kibble Miklovik (Craig);
Sister, Lisa Lord Hawkes (James);
Niece and honorary Grandchild, Erin Carr (Josh);
Grandchildren, Melissa Miklovik, Garrett Miklovik (Sonja), Abby and Caleb Carr.
Sarah always had a passion for history, especially Illinois history. So her entering the world in a house that became a historic site was pretty fitting. She and her parents lived in the "Old Stone House". When the city made it a historic site in 2005, she spoke at the opening ceremony and donated a framed piece of needlework done by her mother, Daisy. Her younger years with filled with fond memories on her Grandparents' farm. Learning life lessons about why you don't name farm animals and how bacon is made. During her time at Rochester High School she worked at Taft Dairy where she made life long friends who she kept up with into her later years, her younger siblings' friends too. She loved education and wanted to further hers by going to Illinois State University. She became a teacher and ended up in a one room school house out in rural Illinois. She went on to work for the State of Illinois Liqueur Control, was a secretary for Police Captain Sexton, for Mayor Lester Collins and retired a supervisor for the Illinois Department of Revenue. She not only was an accomplished woman in the working world, she was also a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend, caretaker, fashionista, Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader and neighborhood mom. She wore many hats, one that glows in the dark, but that never changed how humble she was, how much she cared for others and how much of an impact she made on those that knew her. For such a small woman she had a huge presence when she entered a room, always dressed to the 9's no outfit was complete without her beautiful smile. She danced like no one was watching, stayed young at heart, lived fully and loved fiercely. There are not enough words or space to go on about how incredible of a woman Sarah Florence Kibble was and how deeply she will be missed.
Visitation on Monday, February 6th, 2023 4:00pm-6:00pm at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. in Rochester. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023 at 11:00 at the funeral home with Reverend Braden Parks. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I got to know Sarah when I worked at Bergner's & she was a "frequent flyer" there. She & I always had a little chat even if we were busy. She was a sweet & kind soul & I know she will be greatly missed..

All of us at Famous Salon wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Sarah's family. What a gem she was-we have so many wonderful memories of her from Famous Barr- she loved the mall as much as we loved her!! I remember when she got her driver's license and the day she picked up the wrong glasses when getting her hair done. Two hours later after going to the mall she figured out she had the wrong glasses! Those are just 2 of many memories! Fly high with the angels Sarah- they'll love you too!
