Obituary
Sarah Jane Herron Minnix, age 72 of Buchanan, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023. She was born on November 16, 1950, in Atlanta to the late James Robert Herron, Jr. and the late Mable Lillian Jones Herron. Sarah retired from a career at Equifax in Atlanta, and then began a second career working for Polk County where she also retired.
Working was not all that Sarah did; she loved traveling, and her favorite mode of transportation was sailing on cruises. She had embarked on more than 30 cruises in her lifetime. Sarah was also an avid Bingo player. But her passion was her family and she loved them dearly.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Terrell "Terry" Minnix of Buchanan; her daughter and son-in-law, Melanie Karyl Minnix and Patrick Duarte of Buchanan; her son, Timothy O'Neal Minnix of Buchanan; her sisters, Virginia Gail Holliday of Buchanan and Jackie Herron of Bremen; and her brother, George Timothy Herron of Jonesboro. She is also survived by her precious granddaughter, Addie Jane Duarte and several other relatives and friends.
In keeping with Sarah's wishes she will be cremated.
The family will host a memorial service on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM from Kansas Baptist Church in Waco, GA.
The family request in lieu of flowers donations to be made to the Kansas Baptist Church Student Ministry or to the VFW Post 4911 in Rome, GA.
The family will conduct an inurnment service on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton beginning at 1:30 PM.
Cremation services are entrusted to Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan.
