Sarah Louise Riggs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong educator, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, in Boerne, Texas.
Born on October 21, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, Sarah devoted her life to caring for others -especially children. She spent 30 years teaching kindergarten in Boerne ISD, where her warmth, patience, and dedication left a lasting impact on generations of young learners and their families.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim Riggs; their two children, Jennifer Summey (Matt) and David Riggs (Shannon); and four grandchildren who brought her immense joy: Jackson Cofield, Wade Summey, Isaac Riggs, and Olivia Riggs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Helen Shinn, and her sister, Elizabeth Wirth.
A celebration of Sarah's life will be held on Saturday, May 10th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home in Boerne, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of her remarkable life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a breast cancer research foundation or to an organization supporting early childhood education-causes close to Sarah's heart.
Her love, laughter, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Mrs Riggs was my kinder teacher back in 1980. Just this weekend I was sorting through a box of old photos and came across a school picture of her that she had given me with a little note on the back. I will always have fond memories of her.
