Scott Alan Hughes, age 67, of Plain City, Ohio, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024, after an extended illness. Scott was born April 8, 1957, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Terrance E. and Shirley A. (Watson) Hughes.

He was a graduate of Marion Harding High School, class of 1975 and was employed with Honda of America for 24 years before taking early retirement in July 2014.

Scott never met a stranger and was always willing to help a neighbor. His meticulous yard was always envy of the neighborhood. He had a love for all types of fishing (especially Muskie). He was also an avid Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. His sports enthusiasm started at a very young age. He was active in a variety of sports from youth through high school and later coached his son’s little league baseball team. The one who always had his clothes packed a month in advance when planning a family vacation and amazed us with his semi-professional Jeopardy knowledge.

Scott is survived by his daughter Kristy (Derek) Shafer; his son Brandon Hughes; and four grandchildren: Hayleigh, Rylee, Chase, and Cole.

He is also survived by siblings: Michael Hughes of Marion, Kelly (Ted) Williams of Marion, and Tereva (Tim) Jones of Indian Lake; along with his nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, Scott was preceded in death by his brother Patrick Hughes.

Rest in peace. You will forever be missed!

A graveside service will be held at the Marion Cemetery on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 9:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Scott’s memory to: Kobacker House 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43214.
