Scott Lee (Scott Free) Kooker, age 63, of Erie, passed away Sunday August 20, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Wichita, KS., June 17, 1960, a son of the late Gary D. and Margaret Ann (Sundlov) Kooker.
He graduated from Academy High School class of 1978 and then earned an associate degree from Penn State Behrend and earned his bachelor's degree from Gannon University. Scott was a Transportation Construction Inspector-3 (TCI-3) for TRC Engineers for the past 25 years. He enjoyed walking at Wintergreen Gorge, doing crosswords in pen and was proud of his mathematical skills. Scott had good taste- he was a Mariah Carey fan, an avid Steelers fan, and loved chicken wings. Most importantly, Scott loved more than anything spending time with his children and was their biggest fan. Scott will be remembered as a Viking warrior.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Tracy Zillifro and his stepfather, Roy Christy. Survivors include his children; Brandy Kooker, Sarah Kooker and Scotty Kooker all of Erie, two brothers; Mark Kooker (Pam Neff) of Harborcreek and Daniel Kooker (Linda) of Erie, 1 sister, Deidre Marriner (Nigel) of Lockport, NY., and his newly discovered half- brother, Jeff Willems (Joy) of Wichita, KS. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Ave. Branch, 845 East 38th St. Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until a time of remembrance at 7:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at Dewittville Cemetery in NY.
