Scott McKenna (''Pup''), 59, passed away peacefully on July 28 surrounded by his loving wife, son, family and best friends.
Affectionally known as ''Pup'' a nickname given to him by his older brother and used by many of his friends.
Scott was born in Brooklyn in 1964, the son of Albert and Dolores McKenna. In 1970, his family moved to Staten Island and settled in Eltingville, where he met his lifetime friends and unbeknownst to him, his future wife, Donielle McKenna (nee Ruzi).
Scott attended Tottenville High School. During his High School years, he was working at Pathmark, where he still maintains many of those friendships till this day. Upon graduation from Tottenville High School, he joined the NYPD. After the Academy, he entered the 70 Pct, after serving 20 years, he retired from Brooklyn South Narcotics attaining the rank of Detective. In the aftermath of 9/11, Scott was active in the search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site and at the Staten Island Landfill.
Scott enjoyed playing golf and attending the many outings that the game called for. He was also a big fan of the Mets, Jets and any and ALL football pools that he could enter.
Everyone that met him would always remember his kindness, generosity and good humor. He spent quite a few years as ''Santa'' for all his friend's children which generated a few good stories.In his down time, he really enjoyed watching the Price is Right while imbibing in his favorite beverage of choice in his favorite spot.
Scott & Doni enjoyed hosting many events at their home and his door was always open to everyone. He will be remembered as a friend to everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Donielle McKenna (nee Ruzi), his son Sean. His brothers, Drew (Diane) and Dennis (Michele). His sister Laurie (John) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Donna Fiore.
A Funeral service will be at 8:00 PM on Tuesday at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. located at 28 Eltingville Blvd Staten Island, New York 10312. Arrangements include private cremation.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Scott's memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
