Scott Anthony Novak, lovingly known by many as "Scotty 2 Hotty," "Scotty-do," "Iceman," "Daddio," and "Team Scott," passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the age of 60. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Scott was a vibrant soul whose passion for life, unwavering love for his family, and commitment to hard work left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Scott earned his bachelor's degree in accounting and built a remarkable career in the garbage and recycling industry, ultimately working his way up at International Recycle Services. He was introduced to the garbage industry at the age of 24 and quickly fell in love with the work, becoming not just a leader but a mentor and friend to many. A proud union steward and member of the grievance committee, Scott was known for his integrity, advocacy, and dedication to fairness in the workplace. Scott was a devoted family man and is survived by his loving wife, Anna Novak; his mother, Rosemary Novak; his daughters, Devin Alberson (Tyler) and Payton Brongiel (Joseph); his stepchildren, Anel Solorio (Chase), Angela Prieto (Jeremiah), and Roberto Velazquez (Angelica); and his cherished grandchildren, Connor Alberson, Emilio, Ezmeralda, Roberto Jr., Anamarie, Anthony, and Alysandra. He also leaves behind one precious step great-grandchild, Natalie Rose Corona. Scott was predeceased by his father, Thomas Peter Novak, and his stepfather, Ted Ward. Scott was a free spirit who loved gardening, cooking (famous for his cinnamon croissants), motorcycles, Florida State Seminole football, and classic rock music, especially bands like Pink Floyd and Def Leppard. He enjoyed playing air guitar, singing at the top of his lungs to "Bring It On" and "Man! I Feel Like a Woman," and sharing his joy with his daughters on car rides, creating memories they'll carry forever. He was a dependable, selfless, and outspoken man-never afraid to speak his mind and always accepting of others exactly as they were. Scott's love extended to his fur babies: Guinness, Bailey, Honey, Jack, and Bourbon. He beat cancer with courage and strength, showing his resilience and determination to live life to its fullest. Scott was an avid American history enthusiast, a devoted father figure to his stepchildren, and a true leader in both his family and professional life. As his stepdaughter lovingly put it, he was "a man who stepped in with love, grace, and strength and showed up when she needed him." He passed on his passion for gardening and cooking from his father and always found solace in the song "Everything I Own" by Bread, which reminded him of his grandparents. Affectionately known as "Grandpa Pete" by his grandson Anthony, Scott leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, music, and strength. His life was an anthem of hard work, humor, and heart. A private family gathering will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate Scott's life.
