Sean Meehan

Sean Meehan, loving husband to Nancy Meehan; father to Laura (Michael) Chor and Tricia (Elliot) Ebel. Grandfather to Caleb, Rory, and Collins Ebel and Emma Chor. Brother to Maureen (Matthew) Bakke and Michael Meehan. Uncle to many and friend to all who knew him, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on May 2, 2025. Sean fought a long battle with multiple sclerosis but kept a fighting spirit that inspired all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Meehan, his in-laws, Robert and Elaine Zoffer, and his granddaughter, Julia Chor.
Sean was the life of the party and the friendliest guy in the neighborhood. He could usually be found fixing things around the house, tending to his lawn and garden, or smoking a cigar while listening to his beloved Yankees. His love for his hometown, Brooklyn, New York, never waned, even after living in Illinois for 30+ years. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he never missed a cheerleading competition, band concert, or a University of Illinois Dad's weekend.
Nancy, Laura, and Tricia are eternally grateful to Sean's loving and dedicated caregivers, Elijah Msisha, Alvin Cruz, Neville Ossai, and the late Tola Osigwe. They each showed Sean the dignity and love he deserved, while caring for him with gentle hearts and hands.
The family also wishes to thank Sean's doctors, Dr. Wahab Brobbey and Dr. John Liu, for their intuitive, kind, and knowledgeable care of Sean over the recent years. Their professional efforts and understanding warrant great respect and gratitude from all of us. Sean was blessed to be in their care.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 7, 2025, at St. Anne Catholic Church 120 N. Ela Street. Barrington, Ill., from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Thursday May 8th at St. Anne. Visitation 9:30 A.M. until time of mass 10:30 A.M. https://vimeo.com/event/5111604/d5ef5e3eb8
