Our Father, Dad, Papa, Severino Joseph Carnevale also know by many as Sam, from Ellenton, Florida, passed away August 19th at the age of 92.
Born in Pico, Province of Frosinone, Italy on March 23rd, 1933, son of Giovanni and Vincenza Calcagni Carnevale. The family immigrated to the United States and settled in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. This is where Sam joined the United States Air Force and began his journey of life and love.
Sam was most proud of his service to country and his love for his family. He served proudly 20 years in the Air Force, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam war raising his family all the while.
Whether it was a lively family gathering, a spirited poker game with his children and grandchildren, he cherished every moment. Sam loved driving fast cars, watching football (da bears), playing golf with his sons and taking his family out to dinner and always insisting that we share a dessert. His frequent phone calls and thoughtful notes and cards was the glue that held our family together.
Sam found his greatest joy being surrounded by those he loved. His home walls and tables are covered with photos of his family. He cherished every moment.
Sam is survived by his sister Maria (Joseph) Bradford and his children Doris (Frank) Moore, Vicky Carnevale, Patty Kosiek (Vance Wolfe), David (Mary) Carnevale, Dennis (Jennifier) Carnevale, Tony (Jamie) Carnevale and Joe Carnvale. Sam also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and over 20 great grandchildren who will all continue to carry on his legacy with memory and pride.
Severino was predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Vincenza Carnevale and his brothers Anthony Carnevale and Mario Carnevale and his sister Angela Adornetto.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A service will be held at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, Massachusetts on September 5th at 11 am, followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors.
He is loved greatly and will be missed terribly.
