Sharon Bender

VASSAR - Mrs. Sharon Jean Bender, age 68, went home to her Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Sharon was born in Caro, Michigan, on May 3, 1957, to parents George & Cora Marie Maguire (Taylor). She wed the love-of-her-life, Gordon Bender. Together they have shared countless memories and raised their children. Sharon enjoyed camping, going Up North, playing cards, bingo, Yahtzee, movies, going for drives, and crocheting. She was a lifelong member of Holiness Missionary Church. Above all, Sharon loved her family and friends and the time she spent with them. She was a proud and loving mother and grandmother.

Sharon is forever loved by her husband, Gordon Bender; children: Rachel, Jason, Tom, Byron, Jonathon (Elizabeth), Shawn, and Danielle (George); grandchildren Dylan, Anthony, and Malachi; great-grandchildren, Sofia, Nora, Kalianna, George, and Mountain Spring; siblings, Amy Lou (Ron) Maguire, Ruth Guster, Marie (Bill) Brethauer, Georgia (Jim) Lewis, Jim (Janet) Maguire, Ken Maguire, and Peggy Rickard; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She is welcomed home to Heaven by her parents, George & Cora Marie Maguire.

Sharon’s family will receive visitors at Hanlin Funeral Home – Vassar from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Holiness Missionary Church Building Fund or to the family discretionary fund courtesy of Mr. Gordon Bender.
