Shirley Dunham Obituary
Mrs. Shirley A. Dunham, age 90, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Vassar Comfort Care.
Shirley was born on August 10, 1935, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Edward & Betty (First) Badour. She was raised alongside her siblings and graduated from Merrill schools. She married Leo Dunham on May 21, 1966, and together they shared countless memories, raised their children, and celebrated 47 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. The couple were inseparable and could often be found around town at Burger King or at Walmart. Before retirement, Shirley worked for SuperFoods as a display supervisor. Shirley was a longtime parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, Vassar. She was active in the church’s mission store and with the funeral luncheon team.
Shirley enjoyed traveling and baking. Ever the creative mind, she also put together many crafts, knitted, and painted. She had an eye for design with décor and arranging florals. Above all, Shirley loved her family and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children: Patrick (Amy) Dunham, Annette (Tom) Windy, Paul (Leslie) Dunham, and Bryan (Connie) DeMerell; grandchildren: Bailie, Brennan, Zachary, Bethany, Brad, Sam, and Stephanie; several great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Hawrot; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members; best friend, Babe Churcott.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Dunham; parents, Edward & Betty Badour; and brother, Eddie Badour.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish in Vassar; visitation at church will begin at 11:00 a.m. and last until the time of mass. Fr. Josepaul Pasala will preside.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family discretionary fund c/o Mr. Patrick Dunham.
